I have a 77 with the short fat little R4 compressor. I have had to replace it twice since 1977. Since this will be the third time I was thinking of switching to the long version A6. Would I be better off with the longer compressor or would there be no change in cooling performance. I live in the desert of Bakersfield ( the name of the town should tell you something about the summer temperature.) I did convert over to the EPA approved HFC-134a Freon last go around. The cooling was not as good as with the CFC-12.
