  1. What to use?
  2. Where to buy it?

Funny you should mention that John, my old L98 (newly freshened and fitted with Edelbrock heads, etc.) is now equipped with a Vortech blower and resides in a sinister-black '90 Camaro convertible. :bu

Isn't that a regular part that you can buy? Or is your spacing different from factory?

Totally off-topic: I like those valve covers. Mind if I ask where you got them, and how many portraits of Washington you had to trade for them?

I no longer run the MAF sensor Joe, therefore I need a longer inlet hose. I have to find something that will accomodate both the round bore of the air cleaner box as well as the oval shape of the throttle body mouth.

Of course, I could always change to something that connects directly to the TB like the 3-filter K&N or the "Blackwing" type, but... :crazy

I got 'em from YourCovers.com and wouldn't you know it, I paid $285 (+ tax - I bought 'em locally from the manufacturer here in Inglewood) when they were first introduced, now they're down to $195. That's the kind of luck I've been having throughout this project. :eyerole

A hose from a speed-density car, maybe? I take it that they had a different air cleaner outlet?

Would it be possible to make an adapter? Or to graft the outlet from a speed-density air cleaner box, onto your box?

Or, if you really like spending money, you could have a metal piece custom made to transition from the oval to round, and then use round hose to make the connection to teh air cleaner box. Just make sure to leave enough of a gap to have some flex in the hose, when the motor moves.

And those are nice valve covers, even if you paid too much. I may have to pick up a pair, when I build the 406.

I took a ribbing about them a couple of weeks ago from someone who commented on how much they must weigh! There are a little heavy because they're cast aluminum rather than the factory magnesium, or even aftermarket stamped-steel, but I'm willing to take the slight weight hit in exchange for the good looks. :gap

Thanks for the compliments Joe. :upthumbs

Tell him to strip the carpet out of his car. I'm sure he would save more weight than you gave up by using those valve covers. And, after all, the carpet is just for looks :)
