Anybody have a schematic for the airbag wiring in a 2005 Vette? Occasionally I get a light which scans to a code for Drivers side airbag deployment circuit open or something real close to that. I need to see if it could be caused by the steering column thing or where else I could look to find the problem. Its intermittent so I think I got a bad wire or connector somewhere.

Be my guess that it has a SIR Coil going bad!!(often referred to as Clock Spring) I've replaced allot in GM products, not so much in Corvettes though!!!:upthumbs

Clockspring. Hmmm, that's a new one on me and I've been doing this a lil while. Could you tell me more about it? I've never had one go bad.

Its Called by GM a SIR Coil! It's the connection between the Steering Wheel and Steering Column for the Air Bag or Safety Restraint System!!! I guess it just depends on where your at!!;LOL;LOLI've replaced a Bunch, but mostly on 4x4 / Jimmys,Blazers,C & K series 1500-3500 Trucks!!!I think I replaced one on a Malibu once, but it looked like they had been 4Wheeel'n!!!!:boogie:boogie:boogie

PS I would think that would still be under Warranty, how many miles do you have??

HI there,
I also agree with this diagnosis.
Especially if you have the rack disconnected and turned the steering wheel too much.
Being that the engines been modded and this steering shaft was most likely disconnected, it would be suggested to lean this way.

Yes, the steering was unhooked at one time. So, to get to this thing do I take the airbag out?

HI there,
Yes, 2 flat bladed screwdrivers from the back of the wheel will push in small spring retainers to release the bag.
Then you can look at the terminal, there are 2, that are connected.
