Alarn system on '72

My friend just discovered a horn near the gas tank on my '72 coupe. This is probably the alarm system horn (unless previous owners were backing up fast a lot). How do I go about getting the alarm system to work.? How do you check it out? Any suggestions?

Correct. That is the location of the factory horn for the alarm system. Purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM); the AIM shows the installation of the alarm system including original part numbers, relays, the key cylinder in the rear panel, wiring harness, mounting the horn, the door and underhood switches, etc.

If the system is working, you can check it by arming the system, then opening a door. The alarm should sound.

Your door should have actuators that you could mistake for interior light actuators (notice theres two?, mine are at the rear jam) and there is one under the hood at the cowl.
