Can anyone tell me how those aluminum pedals are attached? Do they go in place of what is already there or do they attach to what is already there?

From a quick look at what is already there, it appears the aluminum dead pedal just attaches over the plastic cover that is already there. I could not tell from looking at the accelerator how the aluminum pedal might be attached. It might be after removal of the plastic foot part or maybe clamp to the part.

Thanks

The gas pedal attaches exactly like the original, and the dead pedal requires removing the plastic box you rest your left on and drilling two holes for bolts. It's easy and I don't know why GM did'nt do it for us. Good Luck!

I've been thinking about getting some of these too. Where do you get them from, and how much are they?

Mrs S.
I am going to order mine from Eckler's. Here are the numbers and prices:

39544 Gas $59.99
41034 Dead $59.99
41738 Both $99.99

Randy,
thanks for the info. I think I have one of their catalogs, sounds like a good deal for both of them.

Tammy

I have seen them installed. They really seem to go in the car. Like Doneboy said, don't know why GM didn't do it.

They are kind of expensive but it seems as if most cosmetic changes are expensive.

As far as I can tell, Mid America does not stock them and Corvette Central only stocks the accelerator. It looks exactly the same judging from the pictures and they want $80 for it.

I installed mine exactly like "Doneboy" described, it was easy & did not take long. I also put on the "60-61 aircraft aluminum shifter knob " - it looks great too -

Good luck , you'll love them ...

How hard was it to install the billet shift knob? That is one more mod I am considering. I haven't checked into it yet, hopefully your advice will be of service to me . Thanks.

Doneboy:
It was the easiest mod I've installed ... at least on my A4 - pulled the shifter down to 1st gear - pulled out a horseshoe shaped clip - pulled up on the factory knob - put on new Billet knob - pushed back in the clip ... ta da ... done

Thanks for the info. If I can be of further service with info on mods, just let me know. I'm no brainchild, just realistic about what I believe works. I also have an A4,98 Conv.

I got the dead pedal and gas pedal as well, looks good. I agree that GM should have put it for us.

There are two types available:

MATCHING

and

NOT SO MATCHING

Judging from the pricing comments, everyone is looking at the "not so matching" solution.

EHS:
I looked in Ecklers... they seem to be the NON matching pedals. Do you know where to find the matching ones that you pictured first? those look much better.
Tammy

Mid America has the "non-matching" accelerator and dead pedal on sale in their latest book for $69.95 for the pair.

I have those and they look good to me.

I would think befor putting a billet shift knob on. I had one on my 98 coupe and in the summer I could barely grab it long enough to put it into gear. Of course I do live in Las Vegas where it is about as hot as the Sun in the summer.

Hmm... The price is a little more expensive but I'd like to keep the pedals matching. Thanks for the info! I'll add the site for my February mods...

Karl:

They make "billet shift knob cozies" for just this problem.

I know a gentleman who's grandmother knitted him one -- slips over the know, and keeps it cool to the touch.
