ok here we go.....have a line on a set of '78 aluminum wheels with the painted black centers. I have an '80 with the rally wheels but like the look of the aluminum wheels better. my question is if the paint is removed, wheels polished and clear coated, could they pass for '80 wheels? (not ncrs) center caps are missing so need to get the proper ones anyway. I don't see the difference myself but I've been wrong before. if you can set me straight I would appreciate it, thanks.:w

Sure, they came from the factory with both rally wheels and aluminum wheels. The center caps were the only difference between years. I think more came with aluminum than rally wheels that year.

My 82 has 78 alunimum wheels on it and I be you can't tell the difference. ( I removed the black paint with stripper).

I thought it was just the painted centers that were the difference. thanks for confirming this for me.:w
