Ammeter Gauge Bounces Wildly

Hi guys,

Ammeter gauge needle on my 69 bounces all over the place when running. Charging system seems to be working fine. Does that sound like a bad gauge or a loose wire to you? And if loose wire, which would be most likely suspect?

Mine was doing that I found a bad connection on the alt. actually it was a very bad attempt at splicing. soldered it up added some shrink tube working alot better now

Same problem here. It happened when I got the car back from the shop after an upper dash replacement. Fuel gauge didn't work anymore and the volt meter jumped all over the place while driving (not at idle) In both cases it was just a loose connection at the gauge itself. Pulled the radio, reached up and just went by feel to fix both gauges. All is fine now.
