Finally the insurance company is being cooperative with the corvette shop. They decided on a figure of $4400 in damage and cut me a check. But the corvette guy isn't happy with that and wants them to pay more. So he's working on squeezing them out for a bit more $$$.
So now we establish the side deal. He said it will cost me $1200 for him to paint the rest of the car. Sounded a bit much at first, but prior to the damage he quoted me $3000 for a full paint job. The paint wasn't that great prior and there were alot of chips and bubbles. So I get a full paint job on an 18 year old vehicle for $1200.
Now all I have to do is wait! He said It'll take another 1 1/2 weeks to finish. It's already been 10 days. But I guess you can't rush perfection!

If a body shop says it will take 1 1/2 weeks...he really whispered under his breath 1 1/2 months. ;) and whatever you do...don't tell him to take his time with it...he'll stick it in the corner and work on it at his leisure.

I don't want to rush him cause I want him to do it right. But my vette is my daily driver. I have been riding my mountain bike to and from work for the last week and It's 15 miles each way!
I plan on "stopping In" this Saturday and seeing how much he has done.

Hey the squeeky wheel get the grease. Keep on him, but dont push too hard.

Won't the insurance cover a rental?

I was a fool and didn't opt for rental reimbursement. :mad With Progressive you can get the comp and coll but rental reimbursement and roadside assistance are optional coverages and additional premium. Kind of sucks, but I'm making due. Just am anxious to get my vette back with a brand spanking new painjob top to bottom!

15 miles each way? Wow, you must have some big quads by now! I thought my occasional 4.5 miles each way to the train station was a hike.

But to get it painted for $1200 is a good thing. It should last another 20 years!

Biggest thing I had to realize when mine was painted was that it was a car that was driven. So the chips, and scratches are unavoidable. I just look at them as added character to the car. You will be fit, and so will the vette when you get it back.

The bike rides in are blasting my quads. I lost 3lbs in the past week and a half. It feels good though. Me against the cars!
But I was thinking about having a brand new paint job. It will definately be nice having a scratch and chip free car for at least a couple weeks. I think I will be that guy that parks way out in the parking lot so nothing happens!:L

Once I get It back i'll hook up the pictures.

You could also put a bra on the front end to at least protect the front end from chips and stuff like that. A black bra on a black car would look almost invisible.

the funny thing about that is when you come out there is always some other person parked next to you in either an old beater or a big truck ;LOL

could it be another Corvette owner that wished he had driven his?:confused

Bra will rub on your new paint job and leave abrasions. I try to avoid them.

I try to avoid bra's as well. When she's on the hood of the vette the little clasp thing puts little scratches. I prefer my lady bare back! :L

i used to do that also. then when my dad died and i was getting fitted for a suit i parked in back of the lot with no cars around. came out and someone hit and ran on me. wasn't much damage just cracked the paint all up on the front nose. :mad
