I hooked up the battery for the first time last week to turn over engine(had coil wire pulled) and when I inserted the key, a buzzing sound came from under hood,, Is that normal ? Maybe thats my alert that keys were left in ignition??

Exactly....
Over time it will probably wear out some.....my key really has to be pushed in far in order for the buzzer to come on.....
Amazing what was cool back then and state of the art.......

Could always disconnect if need be....

thanks 68Roadster,
I'm exited that it even worked. I did a test of some of the light systems and the only thing that worked were the emerg. flashers..
Ordered a fuse kit and a bulb kit.. cross your fingers for an easy fix..

I'm crazy enough to actually fix mine...working on it right now.....I even got the original cig lighter to work.....now thats EXCITEMENT!!!!!;LOL

Trick on mine was to run a separate ground. Since doing that, the lighter works every time. Same fix for my clock. Ran a separate ground to the clock casing and it ticks away like a pro.

:)

Checking out the grounds behind the dash is on my list also, when I hit a bump the dash klights come on briefly.;LOL other then that complete darkness.

Check above the LH kick panel. You might be able to see the main dash harness ground on the door hinge post. It's dark you there, so keep your flashlight handy.

Thanks Mike. Working on mine yesterday, the buzzer and courtesy light stopped working. I accidentally got POR-15 on the back side of the door warning switch - not sure that's the problem, but I'm changing it anyway.

I'll also look for the ground wire you described.
