Pretty soon, I'm going to be replacing my valve seals. This job could take a little while (I'm slow), and the engine will be cold.

When replacing each rocker arm, how to I adjust valve lash in a cold engine? I'll then run the engine long enough to get it good and warm -- and do a proper adjustment.

Bear in mind this is an old engine, so the lifters may collapse, or whatever it is old lifters like to do...

Page62,
Adjusting the valves on a cold, not running engine is the proper adjustment. Have a means to bump the engine over and starting with #1 cyl:
Bump engine. As soon as intake valve closes, adjust exhaust valve lash to zero + 1/2 turn.
Bump engine. As soon as exhaust valve starts to open, adjust intake valve to zero + 1/2 turn.
Do each cylinder one at a time. When all are adjusted put the covers on.....you're done.
