What kind of AF do you guys use? Any type? I'm not too familiar with it, are there varieties for purposes? Or no..? And I'll just do a 50/50 (AF/H2O) mixture?

Thanks! :D

Stallion, I'm using the green Prestone 50/50 mix with distilled water. I used this for years and the original brass radiator held up great. I always was one to change it out on a regular basis too. I'm now running a Be-Cool alumnium radiator and they said to use the green Prestone as well. I got lazy and toyed with Dex-Cool in the past but read too much negative about it and switched back to the green stuff. The jug of Dex-Cool is now serving as a door stop in my garage and the ugly crystal formations oozing past the cap reaffirms my suspicions.:eek Charles

I use the low tox green stuff and mix at about 25% anti-freeze 75% water and a bottle of Water Wetter for extra corrosion resistance. But I live in TX where the winters are mild in comparison to yours.

I also pull my intake every year to inspect my lifters, so I change the coolant yearly.

Being in the Northeast, I use 60% antifreeze & 40% distilled water. No Water Wetter.

Water wetter really shouldn't be needed unless you have some other cooling system problems. I have used Prestone 100,000 mile/5 year green stuff for several years and add occasionally to keep the freeze protection at -40 degrees. :w

I use a brand name usually prestone mixed 50/50 :w

I mix the green stuff 50/50 with water. Just don't mix the green stuff with the orange stuff and you'll be fine. A friend of mine is still paying off the repair bill to fix what happened when Zippy Lube topped off her 2000 VW Golf with the wrong color. I think the lawyer will get it fixed in the end, but until then, she still has to pay the bills. Yet another reason I will never pay someone to change my oil...

Water wetter isn't necessary, but I do a lot of stuff that isn't necessary ;)

I figure with the many 100+ days here in Dallas, I can use any little bit of help I can get. And if it just costs me $6 per year, why not?
