Thanks for this Forum.
I am contemplating to bid on a 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition Vette at an upcoming Mecum auction. I have the VIN & have reviewed the "VIN Decoding Websites". This Vette has 2500 miles; L-82; 4 spd. Manual. I will certainly inspect it cqrefully on the day b-4 bidding. are there any other ways I can determine its history. most VIN check sites need 17 digit VINS (1980 or newer). The '78 has a 13 digit VIN.
Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks. C3iron.

First of all :welcome we are glad you've joined us :happyanim: As for your question I am sure someone will help you here, I do not know other than Google it, but someone here will be able to head you in the right direction. Sounds like what you're looking at is a real gem for sure, and pretty rare. Is the decals on it or come separate in a package?

Standout

Hey Bill
Your Black "00 Vette" would be easy to see this a.m. on a WI driveway covered with the white that fell here last nite! Good tripping to you:thumb

Welcome!

Get to the auction early. The owners frequently hang around their cars to answer questions like the one you have. Nothing like meeting the owner to give you either a good or bad feeling about the car. A car with low miles like that will probably draw a lot of interest from those wanting to adopt a garage queen rather than driving the car. To actually drive a "new" 78 would be awesome.
