I know this is a shot in the dark, but I dont know anyplace by me that has a dyno.
I finally got to put a little performance parts on, here it is... Blackwing air element(no shroud), Carbon Fiber air bridge, Corsa X-pipe, and Corsa Pace car exhaust. rest is stock and w/ a automatic trans. Any idea how much more power this makes, either at engine or rear wheels? These upgrades are pretty common so someone should know.
By the way the Corsa mufflers was pretty easy to do at home. Really had to get the car high up in the rear. WOW what an awsome sound , and it even sounded better after the x-pipe was installed.
Well if anyone has any numbers let me know.

Thanks Anthony

Maybe 10 rwhp. You will not see much hp out of those mods. The Blackwing is about 8-10 hp and the Corsa is around 10 hp.

For the cost of the pace ar exaust you could have got headers on your car. LGM headers are the best on the market and run around 1400 bucks. That would get you the best results.

Here is a dyno of my car which has,

Blackwing, Corsa Pace car and LGM headers. I have a M6 Coupe.

You've probably got another 20 or so rwhp. The Blackwing will give you about 10, as will the exhaust. The gains from an x-pipe are mostly in sound, not hp. The only thing I don't know about is the air bridge.:beer

There is no way you will get 20 rwhp out of those mods.

I too, doubt 20 rear wheel horsepower will result form the mods that have been listed. The Corsa exhaust is a great sounding addition. However, it is not as if the stock exhaust significantly constrains power. (Certainly not 20 rear wheel horsepower.) You might get 2 to 5 rear wheel horsepower from the Corsa. The X-pipe is more of a driveability improvement. (Maybe 1 rear wheel horsepower improvement from the X-pipe?) Blackwing air element? Don't know about that one - maybe at high engine speed, you may see some benefit. Real benefit (as in higher hp and torque) comes from higher CFM (cubic feet per minute) going through the engine. What has been listed falls more in the category of drivability (X-pipe) or auditory (Corsa) improvements.

This statement confuses me then. If the Blackwing is around 10 and the Corsa is around 10 then added together they equal 10?:confused

I've seen the dyno sheets showing that less restrictive cat-back gets 8-10 rwhp, but I have to admit I'm going on what other people say about the Blackwing. The only intake with which I have personal experience (other than what's on my car, which isn't the same) is the VaraRam on a friend's 03, which did make a noticeable difference. He hasn't taken it to a dyno.

I agree that the x-pipe is for sound and driveability only.

Bring them to Cruise-Fest 2004 and put them in the Dyno-run so far only three have signed up and we are in danger of having to cancel. The cut-off date is rapidly approaching:D :cool

First of all, You asked for an opinion, and EVERYBODY knows that opinions are like A--holes,EVERYONE HAS ONE & THEY ALL STINK!!!! Now,:D that said, I would say if you gained 15 H.P. at the crank, youve done well!!!!!

FWiw..I had a 1999 C5 automatic 3.15 rear gear car with similiar mods.

An air filter change although a different brand and corsa indys and I consistently knocked .4ths off the ET and added 3mph to the trap speed..

I had the pcm worked over and grabbed a total of benefit of almost 7 ths and 5mph over stock runs..

All in the same basic envirnoment and driving style..so I'd believe your mods could be worth about 25 to 30hp..Consider a ls1edit session to get a little more kick out of it..or maybe a 3500 yank stall convertor w/ a 1.6 str and 3.42 gears and maybe headers and a mild cam and your car will be unstoppable..

Congratulations on the mods and I bet your cars kick @SS as is!

C'mon guys-

You know each of those mods are worth atleast 10-20hp a piece- just based upon what the boxes they came in say.

Oh, and if you get that really cool Japanese writing on the sides, you'll be dope. And neon. Gotta have neon. Oooh- and a goldfish bowl in the rear of the car. And a really big wing. Overly expensive wheels too...

SORRY - I just finished watching "Pimp My Ride".... so I am not quite myself right now. Please disregard.....:L

If you get 15 hp at the crank, then what gets transferred to the wheels???? Somewhere around 10 to 12.

If you put a Yank torque converter into the mix, it won't increase hp and torque. But, it WILL cut e.t. and increase trap speed in the quarter mile by applying more hp and torque at the start of the run (which will get you down to the finish line that much sooner).

When i was drag racing my 1999 C5 A4 with air filter mod/corsa exhaust and pcm upgrade and was turning 12.8x's @ over 109.5 mph as compared to a consistant 13.5 @ 105 mph on street tires and I didn't give a crap about dyno numbers..

Keep the best and leave the rest!

Figure 10 hp for every 1mph increase in trap speed!

Enjoy that 170mph sports car!

The 10 hp I was speaking about is not at the rear. I was saying you might get 8-10 hp (at the crank) out of those mods. At the rear wheels it would probably only show about 10 rwhp. The blackwing isn't going to help you on a dyno since air is not being pushed thru. Unless you count those fancy fans they use. ;)

BlackC5PassU, how do you get to 10 hp at the wheels if you are estimating 8 - 10 at the crank? Transmissions and differentials soak up hp (rather than contribute).

Ahh, I understand then.:D You're probably right about the Blackwing, but I have seen dyno sheets where after market cat-back exhaust systems added 8-10 rwhp. I can't remember which system it was specifically, though...

I'm going to throw this out there...no flames please..

Just this past thursday I was on the phone with a fellow Z06 owner out in the midwest who had three mods..

The blackwing..with the shroud..
The Corsa catback exhaust
and an ls1edit session on the dyno and he was estatic that the dyno numbers on his 2003 Z06 were at 380 rwhp..

So take this for what its worth....

Just happened to be a reminder of what is possible..

I don't think he had a dyno prior to installation..but usually 2003 Z06's run stock around 345-350 rwhp..

HTH

Sorry, I didn't type what my brain was trying to say, lol. I mean if you are getting 15-20 at the crank it is most likely only going to give you 8-10 at the rear. As you usually lose about 15%.

My first round of mods: blackwing, Corsa cat-back exhaust, and Powerloader II programming changes netted 17RWHP in my 02 vert A4 with 2.73 gears. Adding TTS headers, X-pipe, and high flow cats netted an additional 21 RWHP. Now with A&A Corvettes custom ATI P1SC supercharger install I'm at 478 RWHP :D

Here's my dyno with only a Borla Stinger system. It's the ONLY mod that has been done, I still even have the stock air filter. :D 8-10 is not out of the question by any means.
