I'de like to see some pictures on this and how to eliminate door rattles, and get everything working smoothly again.

One very annoying trouble this car has always had is when you roll down the windows they drop like a rock and half the time I think the windows are going to shatter from going down so fast. Has anyone had this happen and what is the fix to this or did c3's do this new?

my doors are full power so I would like everything to work again. And no dynamat is a bandage I want to use to quiet the rattles.

Have you purchased the assembly instruction manual? The AIM shows all the hardware in and on the doors, including all the anti-rattle grommets.

Your windows should not drop like a rock. They do not drop on my '68 or my 80.

:)

CORVETTE MAGAZINE is on the internet, has many "HOW TO" articles on how to replace door parts, alway have AIM to show how the factory put it together. Clean everything and relube the parts and be amaized on much better it works when you are done!

Easiest way to do this is to take everything out. Clean and regreace everything and put it back in. First thing you have to do is put the window in the up position to remove it and the rest is easy (some things need to be drilled out, of first see if you can get some 6mm pop rivets or little bolts. If your window is going down to fast then your spring inside the door is broken and needs to be replaced. Good luck!

81 windows

I too have questions on this rebuild. After my driver side window exploded one afternoon for no apparent reason I had to buy a bunch of new parts. Rollers, quides, I don't know what else. Everything I saw I can assure you. The hired window guy bailed out early leaving me to figure it out.

Well, the window does go up and down but there is still a massive floppiness such that I have to elbow it out as it comes up to land outside the antirattle spring.
Thusly, there must be more that needs replaced to get back to a delivery state? I expect the guides are worn.

So, other than the AIM, is there a resource to guide us on restoring the doors to a factory like state? Or a vendor specializing in the job?

Not sure if this will help but I used it as reference when I rebuilt my doors.....engine.........., brakes..............., etc ................well actually the whole car. Usually if the window drops out of the bottom the coil spring on the regulator is either broken or has jumped outof the slot.

That spring is laying in the bottom of my door. But can all the rollers be replaced or am I better off just buying a new power window regulator?

Thanks for the picture that will help a lot

Sorry for the late response, been on the road.....you can buy the rollers and spring seperatly. I think ecklers has a roller refit kit as I am sure do most of the corvette part suppliers.
