I have been working in rebuilding my windows in my 77. The front roller was missing completely and I have been able to find the roller, the spacer, the two washers and the rubber washer. I am missing the nut.

Does anyone know where I can find it and/or have an extra one that they would be willing to send me?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

Bob, that is a specialty nut because the washer base is built on to it so that it can swivel seperate, yet not fall off when you remove the nut. You can get very close to that and most fastener places will carry them. However, you can use a simple nut and washer, you will just have to be extra careful to get them on together, as Murphy's Law will force the washer to jump off as you attempt to thread it on.

Slightly different topic, but it reminds me.....when I go to the junkyard, I usually will remove as many fasteners as possible in and around whatever I am getting that day. I keep them in a bucket, and find in a pinch at 10:00 pm on a Sunday night....I often have just the right thing for the job. The trouble is 99% of what I have stored up is metric! That does not do my 69 much good.

Paul, I have tried all of the hardware stores. None have the right size. I have found the 1/4 inch nut but the washer is significantly smaller. I even tried the Chevy body shop and they had metric, go figure. The Chevy dealer has it but wants me to order a minimum quantity that will come out to about $25.

Chris, I've been thinking about the the separate washer and nut, but still have not given up on getting the right piece.

Bob, since you're in the Atlanta area... have you tried Ace hardware in Tucker? I don't know if they have that part, but they have the most incredible selection of crazy stuff...
just a thought.

I've heard about them but had forgotten. Maybe I'll take a run over there today. I've also been told about Threads of the South over in Marietta yesterday but haven't had a chance to look into them.
