I have an 09 Cp and had my friend who has done Vinyl installations did my Vette with the 3M Invisbale shield stuff. We did the doors,...lower door sills,... Wheel wells front and back ...and the top rear most deck area.

We also tried to install the full size "Front Bumper Mask" TWICE...!!! Both times we failed or ended up damaging that piece. I know it's the hardest to install because of having to be streched around the curves.

We did manage to get the center part locked down but the sides would not strech far enough.

It was cut way way way undersize. We watched the vid's and read the directions but we coud not get it to stertch around or line up to the front side marker lamps.

All of the pieces were ordered from Invisashield on the web. The second one they sold me was at their cost which is their policy in case you screw up.

Anyway my guy has a call into his 3M rep. He's is not a certified installer but knows how to work with this stuff.

So now the question: I'm in the South Jersey Area near Atlantic City. Anyone know some one who has done Corvettes with 3M...Front Bumper. I tried calling Invisashield but they don't answer. No Support..!!! I have a list from the 3M web page and have called several Certified installers, but they either were afraid of the Corvette or never returned my call.

Invisashield has not returned my calls. Where have you bought your 3M front Bumper mask? My last price was $128.00 ..then $60.00 for the second one we screwed up.

I need to find and installer and a new supplier ...I think who ever is cutting the front mask for Invisashield is cutting them to short.;help:confused

Thanks in advance

It's Vett Boys Car,I just went to Peoria Illinois, Checked it out and picked it up and hauled it here and I'm doing some things he wanted done to it!! He has never seen it in person or set in it!!;LOL:thumb
I put the 3M Invisible Shield on the car,Yes It Looks WAY SHORT!!(More like 2 inches) I haven't decided what I'm going to charge him to put it on,It took me 5 hours and I lost the other half of my hair, and it was a real b*tch!!!:boogie :D:D:D

Yes it will stretch, you just have to get it stuck around the flags good and down the middle of the bumper and then go for the Gusto!! Stretch it to the headlamps and tack it down and then squeegee the water out to the headlamps making sure not to get any trapped!!! And then stretch it to 1/8 in from the bumper edge while aligning the side marker and tack it down and start slowly working the water out!!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

It's really harder than it sounds!!!:L:L:L

I know this probably isn't of any help, But I got a clear protection kit from a supplier at the auction site, and in the install video they stress the NEED for a strong Heat gun, as the material needs a lot of heat to make the bend at the front fenders? I don't know, but I didn't like the whole install process and decided to skip the clear protection. And a lot of folks warned me that it yellows and once on, you'll remove the paint if you want to take the stuff off sometime in the future.

I never used a Heat gun,I just set the heat on 80 for about an hour and went to town!!:thumb
Vett Boy had it on the lowers of his Old car,and it never yellowed in 5 years!!!:thumb

I know it stretches... He did excatly what you did ...start at the front emblems...lock down the center and top.... stretch out to the left and right headlights....then lock them down.

After that you end up with a massive shortage at the side markers like you say...1 to 2 "..Then it's a fight not to damage the crap... Not worth 5 hours ...there is no reason to cut it that short and make it that hard to install.

We managed to stretch and lock down all the other panel sections with no problem. they were cut with a 1/4 " shortage on each side. So stretching that was not a problem.

But...the front bumper piece is a screw up in my book.:hb

It has to be cut short, otherwise you couldn't get all the wrinkles, puckers and bubbles out!!:thumb:thumb:thumb I've had allot of experience Stretching Vinyl, thats why I told Vett Boy I'd do it!! I'd never done a Clear Bra before, but I knew if it could be done,I could do it!!:thumb In my younger days I even for a short time had job on a Assembly line stretching Wood Grain and Vinyl tops on Fords and Mercuries!! I once stretched an entire 57 Chevrolet Convertible with Blue Metal Flake vinyl from a Gibson Discount Store!!;LOL;LOL;LOLIt's allot easier to strech and glue vinyl top materal than this stuff!!! This takes lots of soap water, and a helper that will listen to you and not try to help when don't need it, and be Johnny on the Spot with the spray bottle when you do!!Believe me, there were allot of OH MF'R,SOB,G D it,You Sleazy B*tch flying around the shop!!:boogie:boogie:boogie Yes it was my first one, and I hope it's the last, but it's probly not!!:hb:hb:hb
I've already had a couple people from another forum ask me about it,and one of the guys from my local Chevy dealer seen it and was asking how much to get it done on his!!:hb:hb:hb

I'm sure the next will be a little easier and require less time, because I know now what to expect,I'm sure I would have not been able to do it if I'd not turned up the heat in the shop and set 2 heat lamps in front of the car,it made the film purdy stretchy!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Junkie,

Don't forget to charge Steve for the "Heat" bill.

My Guy did the same stuff as you Vinyl... and I was the helper... we pulled and stretched and slipped and and pulled and slipped and dried on top and palmed and stretched and slipped ...all to know avail...He was pulling his hiar out like you and so was I.

I got Pee-oed after 2 hours the first time. The second time we tried again ..we cut the lowere section off and worked the top only with the intent of installing it under the top after. But again it was a real pain... I understand it has to be cut short ...but as I stated...it's to freaken short.. My guy even called the 3 M Rep. The Rep told him ...3M Bailed out and sold off the line to Invisable Mask. ...I wonder why..????:D

Ca...Ca...;LOL

Thats why I skipped over all that frustration and passed it on to Junkie .:D

Yeah.. but my Liver can't take a quart of Lighting to do a front mask.;LOL

Steve, I'm thinkin' maybe you should charge Junkie for providing the training vechicle for all of that valuable experience he gained. :beer Who knows, it might even be a wash for his storage charge;LOL
