Any way to clean brake booster?

Looks like tarnished brass...my metal polish does nothing...any ideas?

What year? Most boosters are semi-flat black. Some of the earlier cars (C2) had cadmium plated boosters. The cad plating wears with time.

The brassy/gold color is a zinc dichromate finish. You can either get a plater to redo it or Eastwood has a aerosol finish that sort of replicates the original but not NCRS.

My 81 has / had a cadmium plated booster. After aplying some metal polish the cadmium color turned into a polished alu color. The only thing I can thing of to clean cadmium is to put some non abrasive cleaner on it and try...
