No, But......

What are you up to now? I'm afraid to ask.:(

Can't you tell...Guy is getting itchy for a second Vette!!! I keep telling him to buy a C5 so his wife, Dawn, would enjoy trips in it...but Guy says no. He wants an older one. He's on a crusade!:D

Elaine

Oh, yeah - I have the itch! Sorry but a C5 is out - they really do not impress Dawn (no Vette does). If she liked them, I'd get one:D.

Lou - in about 7-8 weeks I'll be ready for a second Vette. I'm thinking C1 or C2 driver, nom that might use some TLC. There are a few NOM cars on the www.gullwingmotorcars.com site. They have 2 mid-years for under $22k and one C1 for $24.5 (that's over my budget). Of course, who knows what these cars look like in the flesh. All I can do is look right now, but in 2 months I'll be hell-bent one finding a car:D. There is one local, but I can only window shop right now.

Gullwing Motors

I looked at a 1966 Corvette there a couple years ago. At that time they seemed to have a greater knowledge of imports and didn't seem to know much about Corvettes. They had a lot of great import sports cars at their Dealership. If I were to buy from them, I would either take a trip or hire someone to look at the vehicle.

Ray - There is no way I'd buy without going there since they really are not that far away from Boston and it would make a fun trip anyway. What was the car you looked at like in person vs the web site? Again I'm looking for a driver - not show, but not a total restoation project either.

How come everyone seems to be getting cash in 7-8 weeks? Am I missing out on something here? :L

I just refinanced the house and bought a new (used) truck so I'm not coming in to any money, it's all going out. Maybe we should ask Guy where he bought his ski mask?:eek

I know you've wanted a C1 for a while now Guy, I wish you the best in your search and eventual buying. Keep us all posted as I'm sure you will.

Tax refunds my friend. I'm with Guy a nice c1 or c2. That will be my next one too. Can't get it now since I just got the one that own last Nov]

Hi! Guy

The Corvette was a 1966 Roadster. The pictures they sent email enhanced the quality appearance of the car. I called and ask the normal questions and was satisfied with their answers. My son lives in Conn. and he went for a look and said that the Vette would need restoration. I was looking for a matching number project car. The car was priced at $19,000 (?) and was a matching numbers car. I live in Western NY and drove about 450 miles to see the 66. The car had been drag raced, the frame leaned to one side and there were signs of welding to the front section of the frame. I passed on the car. They had a nice NOM 59 or 60 at $26,000 or $27,000 and a 54 that probably should have been bought. The people were nice, but when I passed on the 66 they didn't seem to have time to talk. The hardest part of the trip was finding the Dealership. An expressway dissected their street and you had to navigate many side streets to get to their location. Get good directions. I lucked out and purchased a matching number 61 270HP a couple weeks later. Try Hemmings, sometimes you can find a decent deal on their web site.

Good luck!
Ray

Not an IRS check - that's spent!

It's an old state retirement fund. I passed in the paperwork and it takes about 2 months. This fund earns no interest and can't be rolled into a 401k so I've been waiting for a rainy day. No fortune, but might be ALMOST enough for that next Vette. The 82 needs a mate for the long winters:D.

Thanks, Ray. That's quite a project you have there! My hat's off to you! I would like to see these NYC cars first hand even if I pass, the trip might be an education. I picked up a copy of Hemmings tonight and was surprised at the amount of under $22k cars. If they all turn out to be "surprises", I'll have to set my sights on something else. Lou knows my favorite is the 62, but they are out of reach right now. The budget needs to stay about $21 tops. We'll see what is out there when the check comes in.
