After reading a few posts on this group, I remembered that I had recently run across some old car stuff in my recent move. I went looking, and sure enough I found some old window stickers, etc., from cars of my past. One of the things I found were 2 "Corvette Order"s. If I remember right, they were documents I found inside cars that I had ordered new and scarfed up before the cars were prepped at the dealership. WOW, and one is from my 1970 LT-1. Unfortunately it is a "carbon copy" so some of it is barely legible... remember those... LOL It has some valuable information on it like "carburetor code, engine number, rear axle no., transmission no., key number, and date produced". It was engine number V1219CTU, so obviously one of the first LT-1s, though date produced was 2-4-70. I ordered it in December 1969 and though it came into the dealership in early February, I couldn't officially buy it till February 28, 1970... and it was only then that I realized the premium $$$ I was going to have to pay to have one of the first LT-1s. But it was all worth it... just memories now, but some of my favorite. Cruzin down the beach at Daytona in a new Marlboro Maroon LT-1 convertible a month later was priceless !!!

Try this!

I value this document more than my own birth certificate......

I was looking for a picture! I have never seen one. :L
I just scanned a copy of the Corvette Order for my 70 LT-1... but how and where would I post it?

Hit "post reply" at the lower left and then go to "Manage Attachments", you can't do it using quick reply. The image has to be aboput 85kb or less or you can't post it as a thumbnail......it's either that or you have to have a site host your photos.....thats about all I know.....maybe others can provide input as well...

Very cool Cee! Must bring back a lot of memories, both good and bad. ;)

I got a new phrase: "Save The Paperwork!" :w

Hope this attaches...

I also have a much larger file. If anyone wants to scrutinize the document, send me an email address and I'll try and send it. Hopefully my email address is in my profile :)

Thanks Ken!
Fortunately that was not me ordering the car, it was my wife's grandfather while he was overseas. Hard to imagine someone thinking about ordering a Vette while in the midst of fighting a war......anyway, I'm glad he saved ALL the paperwork.

WOW that was the cheapest 67 ever bought !

I had to take that one elsewhere and zoom in on it... but WOW! I couldn't believe the date and price until I saw it was for a serviceman in Vietnam. I've had 3 67s and they're still my favorite year (and everyone else's too based on their current prices)... and one I bought brand new... for $3,975 (before tax, etc.). I seem to remember the MSRP was about $4,400, and it had the same equpment as the one in that quote except mine was red/black.

I've always kept all the documentation on every vehicle I bought new. When I sold them to a private party I gave them the documentation, and when I traded it in, I kept it. Not sure why I kept this Corvette Order for the 70 LT-1, since I sold it to a friend in 1972. He got the rest of the documentation for sure. My first new car was a 1963 Impala SS, and yes I still have the window sticker... $3,065.90.

So Cee... is your 68 Roadster an early or late 68? One of my best friends still has his 68 Roadster that he bought in 1969.

It was ordered in 67 as the date shows and delivered in October/67 when he got back to the States. It's about the 1400th 1968 built so it's fairly early, alot of changes took place between when this one was built and the final one in late 68. He had the car for the first 28 years and I have had it for the past 8. It's nice being the second owner, having every receipt for every dime thats been spent on it and all of this neat paperwork from Vietnam and General Motors detailing the ordering of the car.
It's nice that guys like you take the time to save paperwork like that, I'm sure your buddy appreciated you handing over all the documentation you did. He will probably be equally surprised to get your latest find!

As for me, I'll never experience that cause I don't plan on giving this one up!!!! (except maybe to my son)

Take care!

Just a thought here.. But if you hadn't thought of it, The NCRS website has a dealer code section. Your order form looks like it has all the info on it they would like to have.

Wow... I looked at that Corvette Order again, and the numbers in those 2 blocks are so faint, I could only guess at them. So I went to the NCRS site and tried a couple numbers and got close. Then I looked at the window sticker for my 73 Corvette... and there it was... 61-017, which is what I was guessing from the carbon copy of the Corvette Order. So now it's in the record. Good idea Steve.

I also looked at the document I pulled from the 73 when it was new, and though it's similar to the Corvette Order, and has the same kinds of information on it, it looks more like the build sheets I've pulled from under the seats and carpets of several Chevelles, and ElCaminos I've owned from the 60s and early 70s.
