I wanna re-torque them while I'm in there. I can't find the specs in my assembly manual, or the order in which I should torque. Thanks!
Dave

My book says 80 Ft/Lbs. for a big block.
Get a Clymer book, It has all the torque specs and a diagram for tightening sequence.

You da man! Thanks. I will have to pick up one of those books. The Assembly manual is Greek to me (I don't speak or read Greek). I can't even find the pages of things I want to look at.

This is a matter of opinion ... one that others might disagree with.

The bottom of production blocks' headbolt holes open into the water jacket.

If heads were properly torqued down & have since run for a LONG time ... and there's NO indication of leaking ... retorque might not be a good thing to do. The headbolts' threads' sealer might have taken a hard set. If it has, the seal may break as bolts are tightened. If the threads' sealant is fully-cured/hardened it may not RE-seal the threads which might cause a leak.

Dave, My book says 80 too. But it says aluminum heads are different. short bolts 65 and long bolts 75. Heres the sequence

inside head from left to right- 16 - 12 - 9 - 1 - 3 - 6 - 13
outside head from left to right 15 - 11 - 8 - 5 - 2 - 4 - 7 - 10 - 14

I did hear somewhere what Jack said about not messing with them after a long time but you might want to ask one of the experts on this one.
