Any of you fine ladies or gentlemen purchase one of these $69 performance chips being advertised on this site?

Just curious because the price makes me leery!!! :confused Then again, if someone has a good report on them, I could see spending the $69 for one.

Thank you

Thanks Sean and SEMPER FI!

I'm going to check that out right now. :thumb

Be careful....very careful and read everything.

These "chips" are really not the chips we all understand, ie: they don't go into your cars's ECM and calibrate the engine controls.

What this company is selling is a two-wire accessory which connects between the engine's intake air temperature (IAT) sensor and the ECM.

I suspect these POSes fool the ECM into thinking the engine is running cooler than it is. In some cases, the ECM will add spark, which can under some circumstances improve performance marginally, but it also can cause detonation and subsequent spark retard.

Above all remember THERE ARE NO FREE LUNCHES, people!

Don't waste your money on stuff. like this.

REAL 84-93 calibrations that actually improve performance cost a lot more than 69 bucks.

Much appreciated

Thank you, the reasons you mentioned (one being no free lunches) is why I said "if someone had a good report...".

I thought it may be worth looking into. Right now, the idea isn't going so well.

I learned a long time ago ( with a moderate notice on my IROC using a SuperChip) that some claim to do more than others. I'm new to the Corvette scene and was just asking a question. I know the Corvette community is close and obviously, what better place to ask a question.

I appreciate your comment and advice very much. :thumb

I venture to say that "advertising" on this site is just like any other. You pay...you advertise. Not knocking the owners of the site, I like to eat on a daily basis too. :cool!:

Hib has the point!

Check out the site, they ask for details for modification down to your tire size and make of your fuel injector. Dyno test results across the board on all years show from 10-40 hp based on your modifications. Not cheap. so dont worry about that.

PCMforless.com also inquires about shifting and bad code readings. They are a REAL DEAL chip flashing company.

Thanks,
Sean

I generally don't believe the cheap crap that saves you tons of money.

If you ask 10 landscapers and they charge $5000 to do a certain job, give or take a few hundred and suddenly someone says they can do it for $1000. Isn't that a little too good to be true?

We have developed a system that is able to intercept and reconfigure the signals transmitted to the ECU. This enables us to essentially reprogram your ECU to attain maximum efficiency meaning better gas mileage and more power to the ground.

Nope. If you intercept signals, you are not reprogramming anything. You are simply trying to "fool" the ECM into thinking it has a certain condition.
