I was changing the rear shocks on my '81 and, of course, broke off the stud on the rear drivers side lower shock mount. I see it is a press fit piece and I can get a new part no problem, but it is pretty corroded and I know it will be a pain to get out. I saw a part at Eckler's that is described as a shock mount removal tool but it just looks like a nut, so I can't see how that would work. Has anyone used it?
Otherwise, I will have to try some liquid wrench and an air hammer.

If I remember correctly (from when I did mine), it's intended to replace the stock nut with one that has a flat surface to pound on.

Didn't work. My mounts were so frozen in place that all I did was mess up the threads by pounding on the tool.

Good luck. :w

nothing like a little heat from an Acetylene Torch to loosen things up

That tool was designed to be struck with a (BIG) hammer, but that method also risks breaking the ears off the spindle support casting; works MUCH better with an air hammer and liberal application of PB Blaster or Kroil.
