I'm approaching 100K miles on my 96 LT4. I am wondering what I should be looking out for, paying attention to and be concerned about at this time, aside from general maintenance, oil change, etc. I am keying on the front suspension at the moment as something to have checked out.

Any suggestions. What has happened passing the big 100K for some of you.

If you have been keeping the front suspension greased I would be worried about that. If belt and hoses haven't been changed I would do that. Be sure to check the belt tensioner the bearings in the pully tend to go bad.Have you ever replaced brake pads? 100 k the car is just broke in. If fluids haven't been changed it would be a very good idea to do that also.

Wheel hubs and bearings should be checked. Mine lasted about 90K.

Shocks? How are they doing?

If you looking at the front suspension, then you're going to check the alignment too.

Clutch? When was it replaced last? I got 103K out of my clutch - the rivets were just starting to touch the pressure plate.

When I pulled my LT1 at 103K, all the wear surfaces on the inside looked like new! I guess Mobile 1 and routine maintenance really take care of the motor. I didn't really need to be looking inside the motor as it was running fine. I just wanted to add horsepower. Pulling it at that point identified the clutch as the next problem though!

Clutch replaced a few months ago. Break pads replaced last year. New tires last summer.

I dont like the stock(cheap) AC Delco installed 2 years ago. I am having them replaced by KYB or similar gas shock.

I guess i am most concerned about stearing and wheels. I will also look at the fluids, belts and hoses.

LT4 with 100K, do not worry I had a LT1 with 195K

Oil Changes with it ;)
