ASH TRAY LID?

Working on console plate now. The ashtray lid doesn't stay up all the way. In taking it apart I found only 1 lid slide, is there supposed to be 2? Is that even the problem? thanks, Jim

There should be two. Generally, they wear over the years and allow the lid to slide open and closed during spirited driving conditions.

Replacemnts are available at all the usual vendors.

That was the problem with mine, I though even with the new slides it would come open so I just put a little piece of plastic in the bottom and slid it shut. Since I don't use it I don't have to worry about opening and closing it. It stays shut now.

Very nice color with those wheels Jim. on the ashtray, I smashed the plastic strip a little out of shape and it tightened things up pretty good.

You can also "bend" the door ever so slightly so that it looks normal but holds itslef into place....very very slight bend...nothing huge....bend from front to back...
