Astro ventilation or not??

Should my 1974 have glass like this. I only have it on the driver side. Rear window does not come off in 74 so this would not truly be astro ventilation correct?;shrug

If I remember correctly, Astro Ventilation had nothing to do with the windows. Fresh air was brought in through the cowl area and vented out through the small louvres in the door frame below the latch. The blower fan motor never really shut off in these cars, the low speed was for the ventilation.:_rock

ASTRO VETALATION was not vented thru the rear window, but thru vents on the rear dexk of the car. I know my 76 does not use astro vet., the blower stays on low speed like yours to move air thru the cabin so fumes do not get in the cabin while setting still.

I once thought that Astro Ventilation was when the dog on the Jetsons f*rted. :L

It means that your passenger window is not original to your car. What's the date code on it? As others have said the air exits through the vents on the rear deck. Earlier years do not have a setting where the blower runs at all times though.

My 1982 has that on its windows which are convertible ones. I am not sure of the windows year though. But like yours its only on the drivers side as well.

My 68 convertible has the Astro Ventilation logo on both windows. I read somewhere that 67 was the first year it was introduced by GM.

It really depends on the production date of the car. Late '74s did not have the Astro Ventilation script on the side glass. The glass without the script is dated May '74.
My June production '74 does not have the script on either window. Your's may have had one replaced at one time, but it is entirely possible it was built that way...depending on the production date of the car, and the date on the glass. If the glass date is after the build date of the car, then the glass was probably replaced.
hth :)

wow....this shows I'm a new member...but I ain't. I been here for a few years... :O

My A/C 74 was built May 1, and the grills above the storage area are recessed but there is no opening, so I don't think I have Astro Ventilation.
PG.
