Just wanted to say thanks to the Corvette Plant and the NCM for helping take care of a little problem I had this week.
While packing the '08 for the trip to BG for the NCM's 14 anniversary, the glove compartment door handle broke off in my hand. It just shattered. Not exactly what I was expecting and it was a bit annoying at first until I figured out how to open it again (screw driver in the console).
Anyway, I'm going to Bowling Green so I figure I'll ask some one there for help. When I got to the NCM, I told Adam Boca about my little problem and he provided me with the names of a couple of people at the plant that I should call.
I went to the tour entrance and talked to the security person there and got the extension for Steve Brilli (hope I spelled that right). I told him who I was and what my problem was and that Adam had sent me over. Steve said someone would be right out to see me. Sure enough, a couple of minutes later, Doug Williams was out. I showed him the remains of my glove compartment latch. He wanted to see the car and get the VIN - it seems that his biggest concern wasn't fixing my car but getting a new RPO sticker printed just incase they needed to replace the whole door.
I went out to the parking lot and drove my car to the tunnel short of the tour entrance and Doug looked over the car. He was on the phone to another person in the plant also. Doug told me to stay right there and that a man named Joe would be right out to fix my car. He also told me that if anyone asked me to move my car (it was in a no parking area), to have them call him or Steve.
In a couple of minutes Joe was out (I did not write down Joe's last name and I can't remember it now, sorry). Joe was carrying a new gray door and latch. He had the old latch out and the new latch installed in a couple of minutes - did not need to replace my door so I didn't need a new RPO sticker. When Joe took the key tumbler out of my broken handle it completely shattered apart and Joe commented that it was extremely brittle.
Doug and Joe were super and took care of me like I was the most important man in the world at that moment. Thanks.
