Ok, was wondering about the following:

Decks:
Do I need some sort of custom/specific sized deck which is hard to find these days? Or can I just replace the current 82 deck with any old one? Because as a few of you know I don't have a vette just yet, but starting this week I am looking around :) If I need specific measurements, could some kind soul please list them?

Room:
Is there enough room to place a sub box for a 10" sub with enclosure in the back? And also, is there room under the seats for an amp? Thanks :)

Are you trying to keep the dash stock ?

If so you can get a newer factory fit sterio fromEckler and Mid America.

If your will to cut the dash , you can actually put in a good deck, like I did. Stock is fited to the old deck with the knobs on eigher side. I cut mine and put in a nice sony flip down with the active back panel.

I went with Clarion 4x6 plate speakers up front, fit right in.

A good set of 6X9 are the direct fit for the rear.. I went with Rockfod Fosgate.

I put a 12 in the back with, a truck speaker box inclosure . It only about 6 inchs high. And make plenty of bass hitting off the glass in the back. It onlt about 6 inchs high so I can just get the t-tops over it with enough room to close the screen and conseal the whole thing.

I run a 250 watt amp to the sub, 100 a side to the 6x9's as they are one of the higher end ones out there. and the 4x6's just get the 55 watts from the deck.

I could not imagine any reason for anything more in these little cars. And yes a 12" pounds in that little rear hatch !!

haha

what i was thinking of was a 10" infinity perfect sub, with infinity kappa 6x9s and some 4x6's found somewhere (I think infinity might make em, not sure tho).

I was thinking about getting a touch screen deck tho, but see what happens with that - i actually saw the cd changer "stock" radio/cassette in the CorvetteCentral Catalogue that I got today in the mail :) and it looks pretty nice imo. Would also help to keep evil theives away.

I am willing to keep the dash stock, but it really depends about my desire to get a third party radio....

see what happens though, can I get a non-stock dash that would fit a modern sized cd player? Cause i don't like the idea of hacking away at my dash D:
