Hi all

sorry if you are getting bored with these progress pics. if so just say so.

We got a day or 2 behind, but it's not a big problem. Yesterday Baby got sprayed with her sealer coat so she is finally all one color again. It's only gray but at least she is all one color.
;LOL

the sealer not only seals and acts kind of like a gelcoat layer, but it also allows him to see any possibly flaws in the body remaining that still need to be worked on as they show up much better after the sealer is put on. It also fills in any tiny pinholes or pits in the 'glass and gives the primer (next step) a good smooth surface to lay down on.
We got lucky and the only flaws he found after spraying the sealer was one or two very small crackes in one of the rear wheelswells. He will repair those with more fiberglass and than after sanding the sealer spray the primer. I'll be away so won't get pics of the primer but it would just be more pics of seeing her in gray color anyway so no big deal

It's also a lot easier now to see how much of an improvement there is on the door gaps and the evenness and consistency of them.

Nice to see it coming together with primer on. This certainly must lift your spirits seeing this done before you go. Please keep the pics coming. Enjoy your cruise and we look forward to your update when you get back. BON VOYAGE:w

What? Who are you kidding?

Good stuff -- keep it coming. Anyone complains, send 'em to me. :D

thanks Bob.
:)

I was just afraid I was getting a bit carried away and posting stuff without enough prpgress inbetween. At least this was a new step - spraying the sealer on, but before that just how pics of stripping, sanding, and fiberglassing can people take before they revolt! ;LOL

Permit me a brief comparison to that infamous TV program "American Hot Rod". At one time, I kind of enjoyed the program until I realized that it was all about manufactured-drama, personality-clashes, and phony-deadlines.

Here, in the C1/C2 section of CAC, seeing and hearing about the step-by-step of these great projects is worth a whole season of Boyd and The Idiots and their scripted lives.

Message to all here. We want more photos....more descriptions....and more ideas. Show us your projects 'til our eyes are bleeding.

Sorry, Barry. Back to your regularly-scheduled thread. :D

Doug, Doug, Doug, you aren't reading bro, this ain't primer, this is sealer.
LOL

sorry, I'm just giving you a hard time.

The gray on the car now is a sealer that he puts on before the primer. It helps fill in any little pits and seals up the fiberglass. The primer is next and should be on by the beginning of nest week. The next few days are being spent fixing one or two very small cracks in a wheelwell that didn't show up until after the sealer was sprayed. He's also working on the underside of the hood and will get that fully completed than masked off before reinstalling on the car before spraying the primer.

you are right though, it does feel good to see all this progress done before I go. I can't wait to get back already to see how much further ahead she will be.

Sorry Barry, read it quickly and went right to the pics. Being the paint expert I am : primer / sealer eh. :duh Just be thankful I'm not your painter;LOL . Have a great holiday.

Barry I understand your reservations about sharing your progress on your car, often times my wife has told me

"its bad enough your insane you dont have to let the whole internet know"

(she thinks I am insane)

anyways I am carefull what I post,I hate to feal like a bragert,or think I am boring folks. But then I realize that I enjoy to follow the progress of all of the cars being built on this forum, hear the stories of the other folks problems or sucsess's,

So for me I am not at all bored from your progress reports (or anybody elses) as a matter of fact I look foward to them.

Looks great and I will be thinking of you on the boat while your car is being painted

Hi Barry,

Keep all these updates and pics coming. We love to watch your car go through it's rejuvination.
There can never be too much of these type of posts.:D

Barry,
The primer looks great!... just kidding... the sealer looks great. I know what you mean about it all being one color. It gives you a taste of the final product. Please keep the pics & progress reports coming. :)

Barry,

Keep the pictures coming! I like to follow the progress and sometimes learn about different methods of repair (fiberglass/resin of door gaps). I also like looking at the other Corvettes in the workshop. Could you sneak a few extra pictures of the other treasures?

Larry, thanks for the nice words and for letting me know i'm not boring you.
The good news is it will be at least 10 days now before anymore progress reports or pics.

BTW, my wife doesn't think I'm insane - she KNOWS it!
;LOL

Fuelie, thanks for the support
:)

Studiog, That's excatly what I mean! Seeing her in all one color even if it's not the actual color helps to visualize her completed and to me means a huge step forward. Seeing her in various colors all over her from stripping, different shades of fiberglass, the looks of the repairs, etc all make her look pretty bad even though I know it's all going forward, but seeing her all one color again was so nice

i thought the door gap repair method was pretty cool myself. I was at my Vette Club meeting last night and had the laptop with me so was able to show off all the progress pics to a bunch of the guys there and a number of them also were interested in that method of repair.
When I'm at the shop next after I return from vacation i'll get a few pics of some of the other cars in the shop for you but I'll tell you now that except for one that is almost done the rest are serious long term projects and most are complete basket cases and/or stripped down to nothing at the moment.
