well, Baby, the '65, won't be lonely anymore.
this afternnon the flatbed followed me home and we unloaded the '78 project car into the garage.
I threw a bettery in her, checked to make sure there were actually fluids still in her and got her to fire up. She doesn't want to idle worth a damn, but she starts and runs. Now I get to tear the engine bay apart and freshen it up like I ALMOST finished doing with the '65.
Now there are currently two projects sitting in the garage. The '65 is waiting on the distributor, I'm waiting on the parts still to finish the carb, and I have to reinstall the donut gaskets back into the exhaust.
Hopefully i'll get the donuts in the '65 in tomorrow so than I can drop Baby down off the jackstands.

The guy let me bring the '78 home and he handed over all the documentation that includes the original window sticker, past registrations, title applications, service records, everything - and I haven't even paid him for the car yet!!
I'm only the 3rd owner on this original 9,389 mile car! it's really a shame she was negleted so badly during her limited milage life but nothing that can't be brought back to looking good again :)
The reason is that because it's an out of state car and it needs to be in this state so an inspector from DMV can come to the house and verify the VIN number so we can go to the DMV and transfer the title. We agreed I'd pay him once the title clears and they issue me a current new DE title on the car.

Wow! two years ago I was dreaming of owning a corvette sometime in my life and now there are two of them in my garage. We don't even need to mention the irony that it wan't too long ago that i couldn't even change the oil in a car and now i bought a deliberate project car! ;LOL

Well, at least Baby won't get lonely out there alone in the garage anymore. :)

Congratulations again Barry and Linda!:upthumbs . Linda finally has her own vette!!!!!!!!:D and I am soooo happy for her. Congrats you two and have a great weekend!

Good buy

Congratulations Barry!!!!:upthumbs You really have your hands full now...you won't know what Vette to fix first. :rotfl ;LOL

Linda just walked in the door about 15 minutes ago and wanted to run right out to the garage to see the car. Than she made the comment that since the '65 was really more "mine", than didn't that make the '78 more "hers"? :D

Erik, Linda actually wanted a C4 initially and we actually looked at one a few months ago.
Actually, the next toy I'd LOVE if i'm ever able to afford to do it would be a '59 or '60 restromod with a tube frame, C4/C5 suspension, and maybe an LS6 motor - or a 640 aluminum block :D
of course, than I STILL want an early chrome bumper C3, preferrably Steel Cities gray, black interior 'vert with side pipes.
Than I'd love to have............. well, hell, how about one of each generation! ;LOL

I know that's the problem now. I had planned on having the '65 finished for this winter already......... oh well, she is almost done than she heads back to the paint shop anyway which is good because I think I'll need the room in the garage for those few weeks. The more I look at the '78 the more I'm thinking that to do the engine bay decently I very well may have to yank the motor out......... it's looking real ugly in there!

Congratulations on the new arrival! :upthumbs

Now you have a whole new batch of experiences (and learnings) to look forward to soon.

Best of luck with the new ride.

Thanks Rich :beer

and I'm sure most of everyone on here are REAL glad that with all this new stuff I need to learn and my "famous" threads that the learning will mostly have to be done in the C3 section rather than here.......... ;LOL

My wife is really excited and can't wait for the car to be done so she can take it for a drive. She looked sad when I told her that was going to take a few months.......

Hey Bud..Hope to c u this AM at Breakfast..

Once Linda drives the car, you know she's gonna love it!! NOW for Carlisle, you need a 2 car trailer..Drive the 4-runner up, haul "Baby" and this one as well.

Andy

the truck won't haul two cars!
not sure if the '78 is going to Carlisle or not. Baby is the priority car for Carlisle.

Yep, of course we will be at breakfast this morning.

BTW, you should have seen how excited Linda was when she got home last night. She couldn't wait to sit in the '78 - in the DRIVERS SEATS and start her up :)
