Backup light switch pulling amps and draining the battery

Having an issue with the reverse light switch is pulling 1 amp and draining the battery when parked in reverse even though the car is turned off. This is a 4spd transmission. If I unplug the switch the drain stops. Also stops when taken out of reverse. Backup lights don't come on when car is off. Everything works fine when car is running.

Sounds like you have a wire that has worn thru and is rubbing on metal
somewhere.
you are going to have to trace the wire down, find the problem and repair it.good luck!
