Have a problem with my passenger side head light. Weaker light than driver side and seams to be worse when using full beam. Is there anyone who had the same problem and where is the problem most likely. My blue full beam light stays on in the cluster even on low beam so it is a ground issue for sure.

Best place to look please.

The grounds right under the headlamps on the frame rails!:thumbIf that don't do it you need to check the plug on the headlamp bulb it's self!:thumb:thumb

Bad ground (hedlamps)

Hi again folks.

I replaced both head lamps (had the original type with no replacable bulbs) and that did not solve the problem. Checked the ground connection on the freaes and those looks to be ok. Replaced the bulb connectors (have replacable H4 now) and still have problems. A bit weaker light on passenger side and the full beam indicator in the instrument cluster lights blue at any light as long as the headlights are up and working. Anyone have some more ideas?

Best regards,
Steve

I'm goin' with a bad ground too. You can't go by looks (least I can't anyway - I've never been able to see those pesky electrons), and I'm NOT doin' the tongue test either NOPE (NO RESISTANCE TOO MANY OHMS TOO SHORT WIRE TO THE CPU BRAIN).

Grab some WD-40, loosen the screw, and spin the ground washer back and forth, to saturate the oxidation. Then tighten and check.

I DO think the ground at the framerail, under the headlight, is for the headlight MOTOR. If it's also for the headlight itself, I'm not sure...

The wiring diagram '94 shows a ground splice between the headlight module, and the ground point. Other devices share that ground red circle...

I did the WD-40 procedure on both sides, still problems. Anyone know where the headlights are grounded if not on the framerail?

Thanks,
Steve

A stab in the dark(DIM:L) - check the connector (red circle) between the headlight and the splice #109. It will be between the headlight and the headlight ground G116 (bottom of the schematic).

Ground G116 and G115 are the grounds that are just under the headlight on the framerails.

Pay particular attention to black wire connection male and female pins in the plug in Schrades photo above on both sides!! Sometimes the problem with Grounds and Lighting are bass-ackwards of what you'd think it should be!! :thumb
(Thats some of that electron stuff that he was talking about earlier!!):thumb:thumb:thumb

You BIG Wuss!! :L:L:L

Hell, I've been known to p*ss on a coil wire if I thought it would help a Corvette brother out!!!:boogie:boogie:boogie

Call me WUSS all you want uh huh. I'm allergic to high voltage. Gives me the shakes 'n stuff YUP. Makes me look around for a buddy to share with, cause I'm not selfish keepin' it all to myself NOPE. Buddies are good - they keep ya' 'GROUNDED'

This beats me. I checked the ground, replaced the plugs for the bulbs and replaced the headlights themself. Looked like a new wire harnes was fitted at one time for the driver side light. The plug was wrongly connected and the ground where not on the midle pin as on the off side. When i corrected that i think i have same strenght both side but the hi beam indicator in the cluster is still on any light. Need help big time.

When disconnecting the battery and try with my ohm instrument i get connection between all 3 wires by the bulb. Is that normal? Checked the harness from the bulb down to the connection in the engine bay (Schrades picture). Was thinking that if there was a short it would be on one of those leads but they are fine :-(

Finaly problem solved. The plug on one light was wiered the wrong way and then current was creeping over to the full beam sircut. I think the previous owner in Florida must have repaced the harness from the bay and up to the left headlamp and then grounded the midle pin when he put it all together.

I am a happy man today
