As I sit here in Charlotte waiting for my C6 convertible, it frosts me that dealers like Kerbeck have so many corvettes that they feel the need to discount. I ordered my car 9/18/04, knowing convertible production would not begin till November. That said, Chevrolet could have (and should have) filled SOLD orders across the country on this new generation car before loading up big dealers with UNsold inventory. My local dealer has cars (coupes and convertibles) sold with no inventory to fill these orders. They bought coupes from other dealers to have something to sell, but, this doesn't totally address their needs as lots of people who buy corvettes want exactly the car they have ordered. I assume that most C6's are going to current corvette owners (I sold my '01 when I ordered the C6). I understand allocations are based on past performance but dealers discounting a new generation car (whatever it is) 3 months after it's release does plenty of brand damage.
Thanks, I needed to rant a little. Also, as I write this on 1/11, it's been in the 60's and 70's for a week and a half here in Charlotte and I'm finding little satisfaction driving my diesel Passat! And the update on my C6 is: TPW 1/24, delivery in Charlotte 2/11. Machine silver, black top, cobalt interior, 6-speed, 1SB, XM, polished wheels
