HI Ive got a problem with wheel hop I diddnt have before I did the gear swap on my 81! Yesterday after making sure the new gears were broke in I did my first launch with the 3.54 gears. It came off the line quick but it wheel hopped something horrible!!!! I shifted from 1st to 2nd and when I let the clutch out it wheel hopped again but not nearly as bad.Im teying to figure out what is wrong as it diddnt do this with the 2.72 set that was in there, id dump the clutch and all it would do is spin the tires. The bushings for the springs, strut bars, and the biscuit on the differental housing to frame were replaced with poly bushings when everything was reinstalled. Also I was sure to mark everything to make sure it went back in as it was.Could the rear camber be out enough cause this? Or maybe the pinion angle is wrong? I really dont know what could be all that different to have caused this, so if you guys, gals have any ideals please let me know!!!! thanks again for all your help!!

No it doesent hop at any other time, the only time I have trouble is when I nail the gas and pop the clutch from a dead stop. It will even wheel hop when I speed shift to second gear and the tires break loose.

It could be a number of things. Lots on the cause of a bad hop on the net. You can do an advanced google search for "bad Hop". From what I see...it could be a bad tire, out of balance tire, leaf spring, shocks or other suspension related components.

After closer inspection I looked at the rear tires and noticed they were cambered in alot!! I found my service manual and the spaecs are supposed to be at 0 degrees camber I used a carpenters square, protractor and level and have them sitting nice and square. I went for a test drive and it seems to be ok I even noticed the slight vibration while at steady speeds went away also.Im wondering?Did the ecsesive camber put the halfshafts or ect in a bind?
