I recently bought a 1977 L-82. Behind the front tires are to capped off pipes that look like part of the exhaust (however i have dual pipes running out the back). What are these and what purpose does it serve????

Got a digital camera? Take a few shots for us. From what it sounds like, your car might have been converted to a 69 style sidepipe set up at one time, then converted back. Hard to tell without seeing what you are talking about though.

a little research later.....

So it looks like they are infact exhaust cut outs. Thanks

Uncork em!!! Uncork em!!!

If it is not tuned for the lower backpressure you will more then likely loose power :( but it does sound good :)
