I have read that by putting in a valve to stop the flow of water to the heater core will help with inside heat? A few questions , what type of valve is best screw in type or ball valve, what size valve, feed line or return line? Also I have air what effect will this have , thanks for any info , Bob

If you have hot air out of the heater ducts even when you have the heater off, obviously, if you shut off the hot water, you'll not get heat.

But, if you've got hot air in when the heater is off, another way to solve the problem would be to rebuild the heater assembly. When that's done, the rubber or foam seals (which are probably rotted) on the heater's internal doors will be replace restoring proper sealing.

Have you checked for a stock shut off valve on your car? Some model years have them, some do not. If you have one, I'm guessing it is stuck open and allowing hot water to circulate all the time.

Corvette Central lists this one; other folks will also have them
