I put in a new battery, after a few days of sitting, and cranked over very slow, almost wouldn't start, this is my second battery.. i'll put the batt on a charger, till it's fully charged, and i'll attempt to start the car several days later and the same problem, what would cause the battery to drain?

Battery dies

Hi madvette74, I remember I found the drain by using a test light from the neg. batt. term. to metal and pulling fuses till the light went out. It was something simple like a bad accessory, if I remember right. I remember checking the major things first: starter, alternator, every ground I could find but I came up empty. Then a mechanic friend of mine suggested the thing with the test light. I don't know if this will help. I know it was a pain in the butt, no room to get to the fuses without getting in & out of the car after every fuse check. I honestly don't remember what mine turned out to be, it was a long time ago. I only remember it was something stupid, like not a major part $ wise but some accessory. I don't know if this will help. tt72

Another idea is to use an amp meter, does the same thing as the test light. Pull fuses until the draw goes away.
Also, crawl under the car and check the negative terminal where it attaches to the frame after it comes out of the battery box.

I had the same problem, while car was sitting in my garage the driver side courtsey light would come no movement or nothing to say of . I was just fixing to buy a new battery when walking by I noticed the light on and I was very careful at this point not to leave anything on. It was where the wire goes into the socket that little ball of solder I replaced that. Good to go from there.

another good accessory would be a battery cut-off switch. i install one right on the positive batt terminal. anytime the car sits for a long period .i disconnect the battery..

I didn't close one of the storage compartment doors good once & the light inside stayed on & it ran the batt. down after a few days.
