I just change the battery in 2003 vette,it will turn over but it will not start.Did I miss something. All lights ,gages work, can't unlock radio?

HI there,
Your radio can be unlocked at your local dealership.
As far as what you are missing, there may be other issues.
The battery disconnect should NOT affect your starting of the vehicle.

I ran into this as I was growing up tried to swap battery out of monte-carlo to my z28 and would turn over but not start. I was just try to test fire new motor so I got my father involved, "electical tech guy". The battery even though was 12v it has to match patern in electronics. I had to hook up old battery back to car a junp off other battery started right up. It was a learning trial for me. So you may be 1-digits off in your battery selection. Good Luck

If all else fails try to jump old battery off of new one. The old one has to be hooked up to car terminals.

I am only pipe fitter by trade my father had years of electronic school not I. Just trying to help somebody check something, with an alternative. Good luck guy sorry if I affended anyone.

Daffycats,
No worries- we try to have a free exchange of ideas/solutions on maintenance and repair issues. And thanks for sharing your experience.

You just need to realize that GMJunkie is sort of our resident Hillbilly, and tends to post with a Hillbilly-esque sense of humor. It can sometimes catch folks who are new to the CAC a bit by surprise when he throws in comments like "you're smoking stuff better'n me." He doesn't mean anything by it, so please don't take it too personally.

Thanks for the feed back.I don't know what happen, but after about hour and a half it started right up wite no jump, and was able to unlock radio. It's one I never came across??

I know local dealers use a small gadget they plug into your cigarette lighter, it maintains small voltage in the system while the battery is being changed. It preserves all seatings for key programing and key fab, PCM memory and other presets. On my Durango I have to race the engine till the thermostat opens and oxygen sensor take hot reading before the thing will idle after battery interrupt. I'll bet the starting problem you encountered had to due with PCM reseting itself.

dear zagger,
Thanks for the reply. The more I read about this I'm starting to think you are right, like some of the others. But hearing from others it must be the PCM reseting, because of just sitting for awhile it started right up.I can't figure it out.Nothing else I can point to.Since then I have not had a problem.Starts right up and the volts stay at 14.1 to 14.4.Again thanks for the reply.
