Checking out and making a list of things that need to be done in the engine compartment, one of the very obvious items is replacement of the battery tray. Checking out the various sources, Zip and Corvette America they have tray kits for about $90...anyone know of a lower price for the kit?

Also, when taking out the old tray, does the new tray have to be welded in or is it bolted in or ?

A good source for the tray is appreciated as well as what do I need to be able to do to replace it....if you need to send me a private message, my email address is htmiata99@aol.com

thanks, Herb

C1 battery trays are welded.

Thats what I figured....are they arc welded in place or ????? what would be the best way to get it attached? For all intents and purposes, mine is shot and will need to be removed and a new one put in place....looks like Zip has them the cheapest, My guess is that they all are supplied by the same company....

They were originally gas-welded to the frame - either arc or mig will work fine.

Thanks John.....I bought a small arc welder this past weekend....haven't done any welding for many many years....so it should be quite entertaining. Also bought a 20 gallon sandblaster....got them both at an auction.....even though I am not doing a frame off, I figured that while the engine was pulled that I could hit everything that needed to be painted that was steel with the sandblaster...would wash and sand the other pieces...and then paint them....
