I'm removing some interior trim panels.
I got the two molding panels that surround the rear window, removed the center halo panel, and the two "A" pillar molding pieces.
I'm stuck on the straight molding piece that goes directly over the doors. They are unscrewed but won't budge. I figure there must be something behind those trim pieses still holding them on but they are tight and I can't move them at all and i'm afraid of bending them.

Can someone enlighten me on how to properly remove these last two pieces?

Thanks!

yep! :D

It's going to be a week or two until I get my carb back so i needed SOMETHING to do in the meantime........ figured I might as well get these panels repainted since they needed it.

see how bad they look:

they need a fresh coat of paint to get rid of the scratches and the rear molding pieces look like crap - all dull compared to the other parts. Plus the vinyl piece under the rear window needs reglueing so it's not hanging down at the ends anymore.

Barry,

Be real careful. There is a small delicate metal clip around the middle of the trim piece. It goes up through a thin slot in the birdcage. With great care you can remove it.

I should have mentioned that you slide the trim piece off the clip.......carefully.

Bob, thanks, that helps.
I managed to get the passenger side piece off. It was kinda loose so I could carefully see the clip and see what I was doing but the drivers side is TIGHT up against the roof and has zero play in it. It won't move to slide at all.

At least now I know what i'm dealing with but I'm real worried about forcing it too hard. That sucker in on there tight!

Dakota
the scarey part is........ it already was a body-off restored car! I just wasn't happy with the level they restored it so I'm doing parts of it over it to bring it up to the standards I want it to be at

Bob

believe it or not, while i was fooling around with it that thought did cross my mind......
Mask it, shoot some primer and than some fresh paint and be done with it. It actually sounds less risky than trying to get that piece out of there.
i'll fool with it for a little bit in the morning but if it still won't come out for me than that very well may be what I'll end up doing. If it's this difficult to get off than even if I do manage it I have a feeling getting it back on may be even worst
