I am horrified to even ask, but as having a child has seriously curtailed the number of days a year I drive my Vette, has anyone heard of a successful and reversible bench seat conversion in a C3 roadster? It will look stupid, I know...

No but I'd be interested to see what a successful conversion would look like.

take a tape measure and hit the local junkyard, you aught to find something over there that will fit in

Maybe the 4 door/seat vette would be a better option. Has anyone seen a pic of them lately ?

U.K., why not make your own bench seat. two plywood seat bases, and a solid back piece.i would hinge the seat back midway up similar to the 79-82 seats. once the form is made i am sure you could find a competent upholsterer to cover the assembly

Some friends of mine had 3 kiddie seats in the back of their '65 coupe

They actually sat back there, too. The trouble is the kids outgrew it in a few years. :)

That's what I'd do. Or make a base to fit to the existing seat mounting holes & use that to mount a bench set on (a rear seat from a scrapyard?). Or, drive down the M4 to Reading & visit a company called Trimania (if they're still going). They do really good work & might be able to make some (useful) suggestions.
good luck!

I think you are just trying to get rid of the used PLYWOOD!!!!;LOL

Vette-dude, we floridians never get rid of our plywood shutters. when the hurricane season's over we use them for boogie boards!!

You might consider changing your center pull emergency brake system to an under the dash 1965 unit. That would give you some room for a small pad between the seats. There is not a lot of room there, but it's workable for fairly short drives. I even put an extra set of seat belts in a 65 so the center passenger would be belted in.
