Hi all, can anyone tell me where the best auctions are for ZR1's? I heard Carlisle and Arizona so far.

I am looking to buy one in the next 12 months and want to visit an auction once or twice before actually bidding up on one.

Thanks for your advice, especially those with auction experience!

David

When an auction isn't an auction!

Please be very carefull where go as far as auctions go. Forget Ariz and Carlisle, look around in your neighborhood and you will find one. And you will have the chance to have it checked out and car-faxed and l'm sure you will also save money. Just remember the water damaged cars.

Auctions are not created equal and most of the time you save nothing but pick up a lot of headaches.

good luck

Hi Dave, I'm no car trader or collector and I am not a car salesman so I just have an opinion and no credentials of any kind to back up my opinion. Now that I have established my non-bona fides I wonder why an auction? I doubt that you would find a ZR-1 at a used car dealer auction. I found mine by using the net mostly. Those sites like Vette trader, collector car trader, ZR1net registry, and for sale sections on forums. After watching two years of B-J in Az I doubt that a great deal in that setting is likely. Yea those two calloways went at what seemed like fair to low prices but I think B-J is not the place for those cars or ZR-1s. I don't even think that the specialty C4s have gotten to the "where are all the Calloways & LPEs & ZR-1s" stage yet. It hasn't been long enough and the rare C3 vettes haven gone thru the roof as a group yet. I just bought my 90 ZR-1 in Dec. 04 and I found it on Collector Car Trader. I looked in plenty of places but not every where. I also watched Ebay for about 8 mos. and didn't see anything that was a steal. In this class of car I don't believe steals come very often if ever. People that have'em & want to unload'em know what they are selling and price them accordingly. If you want a ZR-1 I say just look there are all kinds out there at all price levels. The hard part is finding one to fit a budget, that's where I spent all my time. If money was no object I could've had one anytime. JMHO, Tom
