Whats the best batt out there these days? Optima?
My quality batt. leaked! (not sure from where?)
But am in the market for a good {leak free} Batt.
Understand GM had one? And the Optima?
Looks too modern? thoughts?

I just went thru this, this week as a matter of fact. I may have been lucky but I bought mine from CarQuest. Once you remove the stickers it looks pretty good. It has 1000 cold amps @ 32 and 850 @ 0 degrees F. Only time will tell but if I remember correctly there are actually only a few different manufactures out there and lots of companys that put their stickers on them and sell them. One other point on the cosmetics b/c I know that some look at this however it was not a factor in my choice, The caps for the battery are flat not raised as most so it looks close to what was there originally. Dave.

Hard to beat a maintenance-free Delco, generally trouble-free and long lasting, although pricey.

I use Sears batteries in a couple of my cars and they are fine but never outlast their warranty... I figure Sears does that purposely to keep you coming back to cash in on the warranty, which is nothing more than (momentarily) giving you back the extra money you loaned them by purchasing what you thought was a premium battery when you really bought a lesser battery.

Going with Delco.....

On a 65 BB they say a "24 6yr" is the standard replacement.
They also offer a "78 DT 6yr" as an upgrade.
Is the 24 and 78 series the same physical size?
If so, is the bigger batt the way to go with an 11-1
396?
Thanks!

Ordered a 24 6yr.
Game over.................
Thanks again!
Will be here Monday.

There's only 2 or 3 companies that make "all" the batteries...Have a Kirkland battery from COSTCO as it's by the better maker...Have had it for 3 years...

Bought a Kirkland Signature from Costco also. At the price they seel these puppies at, they're a steal. I think I paid mine $39.99. And you can easily remove the top sticker if you prefer the plain black look.
