best garage floor coating??

What do all y'all (as any southerner knows, the plural of y'all is: all y'all) think the best coating for a garage floor would be?

Home Depot & Lowes have an epoxy coating kit and a place called U Coat It on the net has a do-it-your-own-self package.

How about Race Deck? Anyone out there actually using any of these things? How do you like them? Pros & cons of using them?

Thanks a bunch, guys.
Ucoat I have used on my garage floor. Looks and wears great!! I would use it again.

Racedeck (or similar products)

I used RaceDeck and it's great. Underneath it is a peeling/lifting coat of epoxy coating. The nice thing about RaceDeck is that it acts as a vapor barrier and insulator so when you have to lay down on it, it's not cold like concrete would be. Everyone who has seen my garage went out and bought some for themselves. I've never seen a paint/coating that didn't eventually peel.

Is the Racedeck surface durable enough to allow a fully loaded engine stand or engine hoist to roll around freely? Or is Racedeck more like a padded surface for the garage floor?

I need something to cover my garage floor; about once every couple of years it rains hard & long enough so that the moisture comes up through my concrete garage floor and makes the floor 'sweat'.

I'm assuming that a professionally applied epoxy coating is out of the question, since my floor would obviously not pass the plastic vapor barrier test...:ugh

I used Armstrong 12x12 classic black and white tiles. I had bought the epoxy, but the more I thought about it the more I wanted the black and white tile look. I returned the epoxy to Lowes and got the tile and I have been very satisifed. It has been down for over 3 years and have not had any problems with it. My wife bought me the old fashion bucket on wheels and mop that makes cleanups a snap. I just love the look.

I am going to do the same once I decide to write the check for the tiles.

any pics of yours?

Rain,

Here are a couple photo's of my old garage...

The tile look great, but they will shift esp. when jacking up the car and letting the back wheels settle, but they are easy enough to replace too ;) They also dimple when using a floor jack, and depending upon the type of jack stands, they too will cut through the tile ;)

Rain,

Check out my avator for a small picture. I am very happy with how it turned out. It was not very expensive and very easy to keep clean. I bought some extra tiles to replace any that get damaged and have not had to replace any in the almost 3 years that it has been down. I love the look and suggest others looking at flooring consider it.

thanks for the pics and info guys!

I have Race Deck tiles on my garage floor. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I also was spectical on the poly coatings, since they are very likely to peel up.

Rolling stuff on the Race Deck tiles isn't terribly easy. The tile surface looks like diamond plating, so it is not perfectly smooth. I can roll my tool box and small to mid size stuff around on it easily, but I'd think heavy items like an engine and stand would be tricky. It was kinda tricky to move my motorcycle on the stand. One thing to watch is jack stands or other stand, etc with very small, somewhat pointed legs/feet. They can leave marks in the Race deck tiles. Even the side stand on my Vrod can leave a small crease. I just cut a piece of extra gray tile and use it as a side stand pad.

It is very easy to clean up. I have spilled various things from oil to paint drops on it, and it all wipes right off easily.

The only thing I don't like about it is you know you are on plastic or something like that when you walk on it by the noise they make.

If you want some pix, IM me your email address and I'll send you a few.

Also, here is a link to a good sight for garage info, I got useful info there..
