As the title says I need to replace my air element. I've used K&N many times on different sports cars but it there a better one like a Fram Air Hog or an Acell cool blue?

Thanks.

Randy =)

I'll get egged for it, but articles I have read said that so little airflow differences existed between a clean paper Delco, K&N and another, that the paper was the choice due to cost. Did you search the forum?

I have opted for K&N, too, but figure my payoff is only after cleaning and reusing it many times.

Exactly what he said, but to get more in depth answers use the search tab and type in air filters, I am sure you will get a ton of results.

The K&N filter does flow as much air as good quality paper filters when clean. The difference is that the K&N continues to flow almost the same amount of air when dirty. The paper filters will not.

A K&N filter and a cleaning kit costs about the same as 3 paper filters so the K&N is a better deal as it will easily pay for itself after you replace the paper filters. They are easy to clean with a mild detergent and hot water or use the cleaning solution in the kit and then lightly spray the filter media with the K&N oil. The kit is good for about 10 cleaning cycles using the areosol oil.

Just make sure that if you ever have the car serviced by a shop, they don't toss the K&N filter because it looks dirty and replaced with a cheap paper one!!

If using a K&N then remember not to over oil it - too much oil gets up the inlet tract to the MAF and the hotwire will become contaminated over time - it's heated to 1000 degrees when the engine is switched off to burn off any crap but air filter oil carbonizes and eventually will cause problems as it builds up giving incorrect values to the injection system.

Cleaning the MAF at each service is always a good idea with an aerosol carb cleaner.
