Besides California duster is thier other products people have used to clean dust or other ways to shine with out washing?

I use the Cal Duster.

I also use "Felt Towels".
They are sold in Targets & other chain stores, in packets of 5.
They don't scratch & can penetrate better than the Cal Duster.

I am a bit leary of wiping down without rinsing first due to the possibility of driving grit into the clearcoat causing swirls...
However, I foung this product at Canadian Tire that fits onto your hose end and has a filter unit that removes all spotting matter in the water. Just blow off the rinse water with the filtered water and no spots, period. It is called Mr. Clean, costs about $22US and works perfectly...

The california duster is good for dust, but not when the car is actually 'dirty' with road grime. I use the california duster on the car when it sits in the garage for a while and has some dust on it.

For other touch ups between washings I use a product from a company out of Ft. Lauderdale, I think it is called Sunshine Quick Detail, but i would have to check the bottle to be sure. It is a great product that doesn't scratch the paint, and can be used on all the cars surfaces including glass

I guess Dawn detergent is a no no?? :confused

Just messin... don't throw stones I am just joking.... :L

Oh, I can tell you're gonna be a lot of fun at the CruiseFest! ;LOL

I use the Cal Duster first, than I just started using a new product called "The Glosser." The Glosser is a pre-packlaged towell pre-moistened with quick detailer. Works fabulously! I do the whole car from top to bottom, then the wheels, then toss it.

I've gotta ask... Dawn is ok to use to take off old wax for the claybar process... Right???

Sure, dishwashing liquid is good if you want to remove the wax along anything else. Most dishwashing liquids make an excellent degreaser. :cool

Those glossser towels are really good. They really work.
I also use Meguiars "Quick Detail". Just spray it on, wipe with one towel, and buff with another towel. It is good for dust and lite dirt. Saves washing the whole darn thing. Appears to help with the overall shine.
Just MHO.

I have used the meguiars quick detail before too, but it is not even in the same league as the new stuff that I use... just an FYI in case you are interested. I have also used Zymol's 'detail' before, which I found to be better than the meguiars stuff.

I am confused, what is "between washes"? I wash my car more than I drive it,;LOL My wife goes crazy because of this, here's the normal sequence of events,

Me. Want to go for a drive tonight its a beautiful night we can watch the sunset as we drive around showing off the car?

Wife. Sure I would love to.

Me. Run out to the gargare pull the car out, get the hose, wash the car, wipe it dry.:L

Of course the wife comes out ready to go half way through the wash job and gives me that look:eyerole that only wifes can give, you guys know what I am talking about.

GO SOONERS
:beer

hi all:)
I normally just rinse it off because its always parked under my carport"covered" with a car cover, after rinsing i just use a good grade chamious and the usual T.L.C that goes along with owning a vette, I recently tried the "liquid glass" and to keep her shiney is almost effortless, Just be sure the chamious is a good one and not a knock off , "if it doesnt squeak its not really a chamious"
Sherry:)

Sherry, beautiful car, I just noticed your wheels they seem different than the stock "rally wheels" your appear to have cut outs. Is that the way the car came or did you put some different wheels on it?

Hey okie:)

Thats the way it came , I never really noticed the rims to be honest but those are chevy rims arent they?, Monty carlo slots?..the paper work that came with the car said everything was stock "special order from california" leather interior"
L-48 and sport wheels, I took for granted that the wheels were stock and the whole car was, ..No biggie I like her he way she is..i have found however that the engine # match and she runs like a perverbial "striped ape". I like the rims thats on her and if i was to change them i would go with the original chevy rims that came on a 69-71, or if i went nutsoid some crager et's >>>NAAAAaa!!!!,
if i did that i would have to change the tires too and at $200.00 a pop I'll pass for a while..thanks for alerting me to this .I'll do some research and get back to ya,
Sherry:)

I also read/understand that the real chamious that you speak of are actually worse for the car because they strip wax off the car with each wipe. Just an FYI... I use the fake ones because they are supposed to be better in that regard.

Firedawg - I somewhere on this Forum or maybe it was on TheDetailingDude's web site, that Dawn dish washing detergent dries out the side moldings and other bad stuff. I know he recommends 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover and it works great.
