I just bought a used stock TPI off of a '91 vette that I'd like to put on my '80 vette with a ZZ4 in it. You can get bigger intake runners than was stock. Would that give me more power especially if I had them ported? Is this set up going to give me more power and better mileage or am I just into wishful thinking?

I would think that if you got larger runners you would also have to change the lower manifold to get larger ports to match the runner I.D. Without that, you would be choking down the air flow from the larger runners at that point. I have an aftermarket TPI system with larger runners, lower manifold and throttle body and it has gobs of power. It doesn't fall flat @ about 4500 rpm like the stock system either. It still is pulling @ 5000+ rpm. I think Accel has the runners and manifold as a set.:beerArt

Bigger Intake runners on a TPI?

So if I put the bigger runners on I would have to port the plenum and the intake manifold? Would I also need different heads that would flow more? And then I suppose a bigger set of headers and exhaust? ( I have the 1 5/8 headers now and a 2" exhaust. Did I remember from a past post that you get about 19 mpg on the hiway?

SLP's can be hogged out the easiest. But remember by doing this you will probably lose lowend torque.

Just buy a edelbrock base and slp runners, there is not much porting you can do to the plenum, about the only thing you can do to it is port match it.

The heads that are on your ZZ4 will work fine. The headers you have are perfect for your combo. The exhaust is a little on the smal side but should work.Just call TPIS and check out their Big-Mouth TPI intake and runners and you'll have a torque monster that will have power all the way to 5500 RPM.

The company I bought mine from is First Fuel Injection. I'm pretty sure you could just buy the plenum, runners and manifold. Mine uses all the stock sensors. I forgot to add that on my last trip to Arkansas, I got over 22 MPG.
