I can't get that thing to free up to save my soul.I've tried penitrating oil's with no help.Am I going to have to by a new caliper?

I had all of mine freeze up on my 76 two years after replaceing all four, but being a Machinist I was able to put them in a Mill and drill them out, while I was at it I went to the next size bigger bleeder.
I don't know what a machine shop would charge to do it , but it may be a cheaper route.

Didn't really want to hear that.I did find someone on ebay that will sell me a rebuilt caliper with ss inserts for $58.00.do you think this come with bleeder valve, and what do you think of the price?

Try a little heat and PB blaster that should free it. If the caliper is not a SS lined one don't waste your time on it,just buy the rebuilt caliper. I use Muskegon for calipers. I think LONE STAR is making most of them now.
Be sure they runout is under .003" or you'll have problems.

Mine are the ones with the SS inserts.Thats why I would like to get it fixed. The shop that just did my boster and master cyc. said he couldn't get that one bleeder to break open.He said he didn't want to use heat in fear of boiling the fluid.

Well if you're not going to remove it to repair then the only thing I can think of is to lock on a vise grip, but be sure you have a new bleeder. If it's rust welded and the PB blaster doesn't touch it then it could snap off if you over leverage it. I would remove the caliper to the workbench myself to repair it.

PB Blaster and A little heat in the Right Spot, It WILL come out of there!! Apply Heat to bleeder it's self!! Not Bright Red Just Good and Hot and Shoot the Blaster to it!! Let Cool and do again!! And let set all night It will come out in the morning!! :upthumbs junk!!

Have the same problem with one of mine. I warmed up the bleeder and shot it w/blaster. It broke off first thing the next morning with almost no pressure on a 4" line wrench. Tries a screw extractor and still no luck. I guess I'm going to have to go the next size up route!

Ironic, right-rear caliper on mine did the same thing. I removed the caliper and put it in a vise. Then torqued the bleeder screw until it broke off flush. Used and "E-Z out" and got the remaining piece out. Replaced with a SS bleeder screw.

Be careful with the EZ out, gotta kind of "feel" your way through it.

Good luck.

There are 6 bleeder screws on a '76. Two on each rear caliper and one on each front.
