Blue, Bronze, Smoked T-tops w/ White 81??

Looking at possibly replacing my t-tops. My Vette is a white exterior with red interior. Was there a set color / type of T-top that came with a particular color this year of Vette ?? I have seen various tints advertised, blue, bronze and smoked. I would appreciate all you white 81 Vette owners to respond !! Thanx !!

there are also mirrored ones, and then ones that are solid and the same color as your car...

The pair I have doesnt appear to have a blue tint. Always thought they were mirrored. I assume the blue safety flo-lite in the code means they are supposed to have a blue hue? /shrug

I dealt with this question a few years back when I had to replace mine. There were several different tints (depending on code on glass) it appears. It seems most were blue (looking outside when in the car) and mirrored on top (when looking back in), however some fade to bronze, and I believe the '82 corvettes all came with the bronze tinted. However, if you get an aftermarket set, all will be mirrored outside, bronze inside, at least that is how it was when I was searching. I wanted blue because I have a blue interior, but the aftermarket only makes bronze. My suggestion is to look on ebay for a good used set in the color you want (big bucks!) or go to one of the aftermarket places. I found mine for about $800, and sent my originals to them. Oh, and smoked class just looks like tinted glass (to me at least), and were not stock. Hope this helps, and someone please chime in and set me straight if I'm wrong.

the blue were from the st. louis vettes
the smoked mirrored were from thr bowling green plantas were the the bronze which were for the 82 collector's edition...

T-top Glass Tints

Thanx Bill !! I currently have the M92A which are a darker (almost black) smoked t-tops on the car right now. I am the 3rd owner, not sure if original or not, they look like the original. According to my build sheet #, my car was built in St Louis, which would be the blue tint, M1131. We will see if anyone else checks in. Thanx again !!

Mine are mirrored with the blue tint inside. My car comes also from St. Louis. Also very expensive to replace.

mine too HAD the blue,I have them in the shed up in the rafters as they are both cracked:cry ,I bought another set (smoked grey) mirror at carlisle 2 years ago,Iwould like to get another set of the blue ones b/4 they are all gone!!:ugh

No, just one set. My car had glass ones in it when I bought it, but I bought fiberglass ones on ebay - I like them much better, the solids look better and are somewhat cooler, and you know how C3's make heat! Do you have glass or fiberglass now? Make sure which you will be comfortable with if you're going to lay out that kind of money. Just my opinion.

I know my tops when they are on,it is like driving an oven with the glass( yes I have a heat barrier under the carpets I put in last year after she was painted and b/4 the carpets wernt in),so I purchased the black-out film that goes on the inside of the glass...what a difference :eek it made in the temp of the inside of the vette when the sun was out!!!!

Which ones did you get? I was very interested in them, but was worried that some would reduce head clearence. I'm 6'2 so thats not a possibility.

I think Bill is referring to the stick-on film that goes on the underside of the glass. It doesn't affect your headroom at all.

Yup!! thats what I got...Purchased it thru corvette central,it is a cling-on type of film-very thin 1-64th of an inch thick...MAYBE,

I have the hard top ones (two pieces) and the blue tinted ones. Which ones came with the car? The hard top ones right? Dont want to sell something original. Code on the glass ones is the mll3l

It depends on what was ordered with your car. The hard tops (solid body color) were standard, and the glass tops were an option. Someone will chime in with more information I'm sure.

All it says on my window sticker is Removable Roof panels. I know there is something to do with codes on the glass ones. If somone knows please do tell
