While under the car today I noticed my #4 body cushion had come mostly apart. Is it possible to replace the cushions myself or is this way over my head. If I need one I guess I need them all. Any thoughts and please be kind. Thanks guys.

Don't know. Got a hoist? ;LOL

Sorry. I couldn't resist. If you have a good basic wrenching ability, some jackstands and a couple of buddies to help, you should be able to do it yourself.

Your greatest difficulty will likely be in removing the old ones as, typically, they are rusted in place. In that case, you'll either have to break the bolts while trying to loosen them, cut them if the heads are rounded off (if you can get at them) or use a cutting torch to get them out. The hardest will be the ones that you access through the compartment inside the front of your rear wheelwells.

Make sure to count the exact number of shims at each location to ensure that you get the body sitting the way it was originally -- assuming that they've never been changed before. The shims under the radiator surround were tack-welded in place at the factory.

Good luck.

Once you get past the body bolts, the next challenge will be disconnecting/loosening everything necessary to jack the body up off the frame several inches on each side (separately) - things like the rag joint, front and rear bumpers, antenna ground, clutch linkage, accelerator linkage, parking brake cable, master cylinder brake line, etc.

Come on JohnZ, I asked you to be kind. Whew!! That's a lot of work and I was hoping for some kind of new shortcut from this forum. Where does this leave me? Am I going to cause lots of trouble if they stay as are? Right now I wish I hadn't noticed it.

That's exactly what scares me. Once started.........! You got any spare time 67Heaven? ;) :D
