When I removed the body from the 78, I noticed that the body mounts consisted of a square nut held inside an outer cage. the bolt inside was loose from the outer cage, and the outer cage was welded to the frame.

My question is this, when I removed the body, a few of these bolts started to spin in their cage. Are they suppose to spin like this? And because I know they are not, has anyone has to fix this before? If so how did you do it?

I had the same problem. Nope they are no supposed to turn. The cage is supposed to keep them from turning. I ended up grinding the heads of with a die grinder. Took me a whole day. If you are keeping the frame Paragon and others offer replacements for these cages and nuts.

I just measured the squared cages on the chassis and gave the order to a good machine shop to make new nuts from stainless steel.

Sometimes you just need some good imagination for some problems.

Good luck,

Ryan

Thanks guys, thats what I thought. I think i can get them out by way of a cutting wheel and then fabe up some new ones and weld up my hole.

Thanks
Tom
